Our story is simple, with a twist of serendipity. The Riehl family has been rooted in the Duck Mountains of Manitoba, Canada, for over 60 years, operating a trusted logging and sawmilling company. In 2023, a new idea sparked around the mill—what if the hardwood remnants from our sawmill could be turned into all-natural smoking pellets?
That idea gained serious traction thanks to a neighbor and friend who just happened to be none other than internationally recognized fighter and professional wrestler, Brock Lesnar—a true BBQ enthusiast. When we asked him for his thoughts, his response was straightforward: “Bring me the first batch and I’ll tell you if you’ve got something.” So we did. And we did.
Brock was so impressed, he didn’t just offer his approval—he offered his support. From that moment, Duck Mountain Hardwood Pellets Inc. was born: a product rooted in family, fueled by friendship, and powered by the natural goodness of the land we’ve called home for generations.
We believe great flavor should come naturally—and that’s exactly how we make our pellets. Every bag of Duck Mountain Hardwood Pellets contains only one ingredient: 100% pure hardwood, harvested sustainably from our own forest lands and crafted using the leftover material from our sawmill. No additives. No glue. No artificial flavoring. No fairy dust. Just real wood, made by real people.
Our family has lived off this land for decades, and we’ve always worked to give back more than we take. That’s why we manage our forests responsibly and process everything in our own facility—ensuring quality you can trust and practices you can feel good about.
These pellets are built for anyone who loves real smoke and honest food. Whether you're smoking brisket, ribs, fish, or vegetables, our hardwood pellets deliver clean, consistent heat and rich flavor—just like home.
